SURVEYS

Passive Fire Protection Surveys

Before planning remedial work, it helps to have a clear understanding of the areas that need attention. DC Fire Protection can arrange passive fire protection surveys, with findings organised using Bolster to support follow-on work.

A secondary service

Installation and remedial work are our main services. A survey is available as a starting point when the existing conditions need to be understood before the work is agreed.

Understand the condition before agreeing the work

A survey can provide a practical basis for discussing installation or remedial requirements. Tell us what prompted the enquiry, which parts of the building are involved and whether you already have drawings, reports or access restrictions.

Survey information recorded using Bolster

Findings are inspected, located, tagged and uploaded to the Bolster online system, which can be used on any internet-connected device. Before your project starts, we will agree the documentation and access arrangements relevant to your scope.

From findings to the next step

Once the agreed survey work is complete, the information can support discussion of the remedial works. The extent of the survey, accessible areas, exclusions and any further investigation should be clear, so the next decision is based on the work actually undertaken.

As we carry out installation and remedial work ourselves, we can discuss the follow-on work with you.

Surveys and fire risk assessments are separate

Our passive fire protection surveys focus on the agreed building elements and installation conditions. We do not provide fire risk assessments.

How a survey enquiry works

  1. Tell us where the building is and what you need
  2. Send the drawings, specification or report you have
  3. Agree the scope, access and programme
  4. Carry out the work and provide the agreed records

Frequently asked questions

What should I send before a survey?

The building location, the reason for the enquiry, any relevant reports or drawings, and known access restrictions.

Will the survey include every part of the building?

The extent and access arrangements must be agreed. Do not assume concealed or inaccessible areas are included without discussion.

Can you discuss the remedial work afterwards?

Yes. We carry out installation and remedial work, so we can discuss the follow-on work with you.

Can our team access the records?

Ask about the available Bolster access and handover arrangements when agreeing your project.

Have a project or remedial works requirement to discuss?

Tell us about the building, its location and the work you need. If you already have a report, drawings or a schedule of works, mention them in your enquiry so we can discuss the next step.
